WICHITA, Kan.—
Right when you think everyone has settled in and made themselves at home, a few teams lose and some others win and it throws a wrench in the whole operation. But, that’s the way it goes and that’s what has made this season so exciting.Wichita East has made its way back into the top 10 in 6A with a No. 9 rank this week. The East girls just beat No. 8 Wichita Heights, but missed the rankings again. The North boys remain as the No. 3 team in 6A.
The Derby boys moved up to No. 5 from No. 7 and Blue Valley Northwest keeps its stranglehold on the top spot. The Maize and Wichita South girls are still the No. 2 and 3 teams in 6A, respectively. The Kapaun boys moved up one spot to the No. 4 position and Goddard Eisenhower moved down to No. 5.
The Hesston boys jumped three spot to No. 5 and now both the Hesston boys and girls are ranked No. 5 in 4A. Not a single team moved in 3A boys.
The entire class of 2A got a huge shakeup as not too many teams moved drastically, but subtle changes can be found throughout the boys and girls ranks. On the boys’ side, Republic County moved up to No. 2 from No. 4 and Lyndon fell to No. 3 after a No. 2 ranking last week. Bennington is now No. 4. Inman is now the sixth-ranked team in 2A, after a non-ranking last week.
For the girls, Washington County and Smith Center are still Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. Oakley fell four spots to No. 7 and left the No. 3 spot wide open, which Jefferson County North happily moved into. Ellis moved up four spots to No. 4 and Moundridge breaks through to take the No. 6 ranking.
