Every team in the state now knows if it will be playing in the playoffs. For those that will step on the field next week, it now knows who it will play in the playoffs. Playoff brackets have been set in every class and some intriguing matchups jump off the page.
GWAL
North is a playoff team with a record of 1-8. The Redskins lost eight straight entering its game against Campus, but left Haysville with a 42-27 win. The 42 points were more than the 40 North had scored all season. It has the pleasure of facing 8-1 Derby in the first round.

East and Southeast faced off at Caprenter Stadium on the campus of South High and East came away victorious with a 20-12 win. Liberal came to Wichita for a date with Bishop Carroll and left with a long bus ride after a 49-12 Carroll win. Carroll completed a perfect regular season and will get Hays in the first round of playoffs as its reward. Kapaun narrowly missed the playoffs Friday with a 21-7 loss to Andover Central.
Heights gave Derby everything it had, but Derby was still able to come away with the 21-15 overtime win. Heights committed six turnovers on the night, including two down the stretch that really hurt. Heights will play a staunch Hutchinson team in the first round of state playoffs. Both teams sit at 7-2.
Northwest ran past South with a 38-22 win. The Grizzlies (6-3) will face Topeka (8-1) in the opening round of the state playoffs.

Hutchinson took care of business against Maize 42-14 and is now looking forward to a playoff date with Wichita Heights. Goddard and Eisenhower met for the first time ever and Goddard earned the bragging rights with a 27-17 victory. Goddard (4-5) will get a tough Salina South (8-1) team to open its 5A state playoffs. Andover won again on a last-second field goal 30-27 over Newton. The Trojans (7-2) will play Ark City (6-3) in the opening round of the state playoffs. Emporia shut out Valley Center 34-0. The Spartans (8-1) will face Andover Central (4-5) in the first round of the state playoffs.
WAC
Dodge City and Garden City faced off for this year’s version of the Hatchet Game. Dodge City came away with the 24-20 win thanks in part to an intercepted Garden City snap. Dodge City will play the No. 4 seed Manhattan in the first round of playoffs. Hays traveled to Salina to take on the Mustangs of Salina Central. Hays will face Bishop Carroll in the first round of the playoffs. Hays made good on the trip, as it shortened its bus ride with a 15-9 win. Salina South again showed it’s a force to be reckoned with as it took down Great Bend 56-21.
