Kapaun soccer takes down Northwest

With a winning score of 2-1, Kapaun Mt. Carmel girls’ soccer defeated Wichita Northwest on Thursday. The two goals scored for Kapaun were by senior Taylor Kruse. Senior Portia Morton said that Kruse and senior Laurel Lujano were key players for the game Thursday night.

"Taylor had two good goals," Morton said. "Laurel made some great saves which kept the game from going into overtime."

Before the game, Morton said, the team had advantages that supported their high expectations.

"Our advantages are our team chemistry," Morton said. And our will to win- how bad we wanted it."

Morton said that KMC began the game swell with everyone playing as a team, but as the game went on, Kapaun experienced some difficulties.

"Our weaknesses were during the last five minutes or so," Morton said. "We panicked under pressure with the score so tight and didn't play our game. Another weakness is that we're a young team, but we plan on overcoming that by working hard in practice and continuing to believe in ourselves and our abilities."

KMC girls’ soccer will have their next game on Tuesday, Apr. 17 at 7 p.m. at Wichita Southeast High School.
