Wichita Toy Train Club and Museum Grand Opening (November 10, 2012)

The Wichita Toy Train Club and Museum, a new museum and Wichita attraction, had its Grand Opening on Saturday, November 10.

The museum's new location is at 130 S. Laura, close to the Old Town District, in Wichita, Kansas.

Admission for Adults is $5.00 and children under 12 are free.  The Wichita Toy Train Club and Museum will be open every second and fourth weekends each month.

WTTC displays museum quality exhibits including the Bill Taggart ‘s 1880s western town featured in the nationally published O-Gauge Rail-Roading magazine, Vickers and Hadley layouts, a children’s race track for O, S and HO gauges, and the O and S gauge exhibiting module layouts.  The Wichita Children’s Museum Exhibit is on permanent display at the Derby Historical Museum.

For 26 years, WTTC continues to support the community displaying train exhibits at various shows and venues in and around the Wichita area.  WTTC’s activities include running trains at the Wichita River Festival, participating in the Sundown Parade and in 2009 WTTC received the Admiral’s Trophy Best of Show; classes for the Boy Scouts’ railroad badge; children’s classes; senior activities at the Masonic Home and other senior centers; Exploration Place exhibitions; running trains at Tanganyika Wildlife Park; train shows; and other community events.

Future plans are to set up a children’s section, children’s classes and future layouts.
