History was made in Kansas when the Guinness World Record was broken for the most hunger relief meals packaged in an hour for schools in Haiti.
On Saturday the 16th of February, the event ‘Serving the Hungry: At Home and in Haiti’ took place inside the Kansas Pavilion. Two thousand volunteers gathered together to help break the previous world record by packaging 350,000 meals in one hour.
The meals, which consisted of rice, beans, soy, and vitamin packs, will provide a hot lunch for 800 school children and their families in Lambert and Borde, Haiti.
The Serving the Hungry at Home and in Haiti event was set up through Numana, Volunteer Kansas and the Downtown Rotary Club of Wichita.
