Theater League Announces 2013-14 Broadway Series

Theater League Announces 2013-14 Broadway Series (February 7, 2013)

Theater League announced this week the 2013-14 Broadway in Wichita Series. The new season is full of spectacular National Tours featuring new shows and recent revivals fresh from Broadway.

This noteworthy season full of music and dance numbers kicks off with MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, a new production based on a legendary recording session with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins; THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a brand-new Broadway hit from the authors of Jersey Boys; the recent Tony® Award Winner for Best Revival, HAIR, Broadway’s groundbreaking tribal love rock musical and WEST SIDE STORY, the revival of a classic musical filled with iconic dance numbers and unforgettable songs.

The curtain rises on the new season of shows October 29-31, 2013, with MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. This smash-hit musical was inspired by the true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. The musical includes a score of rock and roll hits including, “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line, “Hound Dog” and more.

Next, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, will take place November 19-21, 2013. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by JERSEY BOYS authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice. In this tale, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, falls in love with a “normal” boyfriend. For parents Gomez and Morticia, this shocking development will turn the Addams house downside up.

The groundbreaking '60s tribal love rock musical and the third show in the 2013-14 season, HAIR, takes the stage March 18-20, 2014.  This exciting show celebrates peace and love in the shadow of the Vietnam War. Featuring an extraordinary cast who perform a long list of chart topping hit songs, including “Aquarius,” “Let the Sun Shine In,” “Good Morning, Starshine” and “Easy To Be Hard,” this exuberant musical about a group of teenagers searching for truth strikes a chord with audiences of all ages. Please note, HAIR contains mature content.

The series concludes with the 2010 Tony® Award Winner for Best Musical, MEMPHIS, April 15-17, 2014. Inspired by actual events, MEMPHIS is about a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break. You’ll travel on their incredible journey to the ends of the airwaves. The musical is full of laughter, soaring emotion and roof-raising rock ‘n’ roll.

These four irresistible musicals -- MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, HAIR and MEMPHIS – make up the 2013-14 season ticket package. In addition to these shows, a special engagement performance of AMERICAN IDIOT will take the stage in January of 2014. Winner of two 2010 Tony® Awards and winner of the 2011 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Show Album, AMERICAN IDIOT tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia and features the music of rock band Green Day. Season members can purchase tickets first to this special engagement.

Members must renew by April 8, 2013, to reserve their current seats. Season tickets start at $100 for all four shows, with available payment plans, and are available by calling 316.219.4849 or by visiting WichitaTIX at the Century II box office.
