WICHITA, Kan.—
Progressing into the last portion of the regular season, the North swimming team has now fitted itself into a 3-2 record led by a very talented sophomore class. With wins over Southeast, West and Northwest, the Skins plan to make a big ripple into the City League meet.“The sophomore class we have is extremely good this year. They have been cutting times and making big performances in the meets,” coach Megan Von Fange said.
The sophomores that are making a huge splash for the team this year are found in Abby Lassley, twins Angela & Kelly Smith and Bailey Martin. The Redskins had their closest and most challenging at their latest meet against Bishop Carroll, only losing by 12 points. While Bishop Carroll took the win home, the Golden Eagles have planted themselves in the sights of the Skins.
“It was a big meet, we should have won it but we will be seeing them again at City,” VonFange said.
North has already qualified some of their relays to state, as well as individuals. The 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, and the 400 free relay have all punched their tickets to the state meet and are expected to compete very well. Also, Abby Lassley has qualified in every swimming event, except one.
Their next meet will be against Heights on Apr. 19 at Heights, starting at 4:15 p.m.
