Despite Saturday, April 14th's massive storm warnings, many individuals from all over Wichita and surrounding areas came out to show their support for several different causes by running and walking.
The 9th Annual Link 4 Life Run/Walk to Prevent Suicide began bright and early Saturday morning at 7:40 a.m. The annual event included several different races, including a 5K Run, Youth Competitive One Mile, and special distance events for youth 3 to 18 years of age. The Link 4 Life Run is a public education and awareness event to prevent suicide.
The Wichita March of Dimes welcomed thousands of families and business leaders out to Exploration Place to walk in the annual march. The walking event began at 10 a.m. and featured a 2-mile route, pre and post-walk entertainment, activities for children, and a lunch. The fundraising walk honors babies born healthy and those who need help to survive.
The 5th Annual Autism CARE Walk started at 10:30 a.m., beginning and ending at the Heartspring campus (in between Rock and Webb on 29th Street). The walk supports the Heartspring CARE program, which offers a variety of services to families and children affected by autism.
