It’s December, which means it’s time for the Christmas festivities to begin. What better way to kick-off the holly jolly month than attend a holiday concert or play, eat breakfast with Santa, or see a wide assortment of decorated Christmas trees on display. 1)      Festival of Trees

Why you should go: With more than 40 full size trees, plus table top trees and wreaths to view, you can walk through the trees and kick off your holiday season! This event will include plenty of other activities besides the artistic Christmas tree displays, including lessons on how to decorate for the holidays, the Wichita State University Quartet,  Broadway singers, Troubles the Clown, the Wichita Swing Dance Society, live entertainment, face painting, and complimentary photos with Santa (on Saturday & Sunday).

2)      Breakfast with Santa PLUS a Victorian Christmas

Why you should go: The next two Saturdays, Santa will be taking time away from the North Pole to come visit children at Old Cowtown. While you wait for Santa, enjoy a breakfast full of tasty treats, including pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits, sausage, French toast, and fruit salad.

On the next two Friday and Saturday evenings, Cowtown is extended their Christmas festivities with the Victorian Christmas Celebration. Celebrate Christmas with performances by the Dixie Lee Salon Girls and Entre Nous dancers, photos with Santa, cookies and cocoa, a magician, and holiday displays.



 

3)      Christmas in Delano

Why you should go: Shoppers are being encouraged to support local merchants by shopping their stores this holiday season. There are over 100 locally owned restaurants and specialty shops in Delano, which provides a great one-stop shopping spot for every person on your Christmas shopping list. “Light up Delano with Love” will include special discounts, children’s activities, entertainment and a special lighting ceremony.



 

4)      The Air Capitol Chorus Christmas Radio Hour

Why you should go: The Air Capital Chorus will be presenting the Christmas Radio Hour LIVE at the Wichita Orpheum and on KNSS Radio. The Air Capital Chorus is a Barbershop group made up of men of all ages. The group will be singing Christmas favorites and a cast of actors will do old-time radio comedy. PLUS, this event is FREE… so why not go?



 

5)      White Christmas


Date: Thursday-Saturday @ 8 p.m. and Sunday @ 5:45 p.m.
Where: Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre

Why you should go: The show is based off of the 1954 movie “White Christmas” featuring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. You can expect to see plenty of toe-tapping dance numbers and musical songs performed by a 13-piece orchestra.
