Christmas may be a couple months away, but it's time to start planning. If you want to make this Christmas extra special, how about donating gifts for our soldiers overseas? Cochran Mortuary is organizing Stockings for Soldiers, a way for Wichitans to send a little piece of home to the brave men and women who will be away from their families during the holiday season.

Cellphones for Soldiers

Cochran Mortuary offers a cell phone recycling program for soldiers year round. All you need to do is bring in your old cell phones to Cochran Mortuary – the phones are recycled and all the proceeds go towards prepaid phone cards for soldiers overseas. This gives the soldiers the opportunity to speak with their families and loved ones.

12 year old sparks idea for billboard

It only took a trip to the grocery store with his daughter for Todd Phifer, manager of Cochran Mortuary and Crematory, to get inspiration for his next billboard. While sitting at a stoplight, Todd and his 12-year-old daughter Rebecca Phifer saw a car pull up with a male teenager driving. They were so close that Todd could see him checking his Facebook newsfeed from his HTC cell phone. Though Rebecca’s powerful reaction against texting and driving was heard by Todd, he hesitated.

Wichita mortuary shows Wichita students the reality of destructive driving

On Wednesday, April 4, students at West High School in Wichita had to walk past a hearse to get into class. Cochran Mortuary and Crematory brought a casket to the school in hearse, and parked right out front. Then they carried the casket through the school.
