High Street Company in Newton, Kansas opened 26 years ago. It was a flag ship store that eventually led to Kitchen Corner and Main Street Company in Newton and Redbird Boutique in Wichita. At the beginning of this year, High Street Company went through a remodel and face lift.
The building High Street Company is housed in was once an early 1900s grocery store. Owner Vicki Strobbe wanted to keep the antique feel of the store, both with the building itself and the items inside. "High Street Company is known for old items built new," explains Strobbe. So the remodel kept with that theme. High Street Company reopened on May 19.
High Street Company is packed with antique-looking picture frames, clocks and wall art. They also carry a large selection of Willow Tree sculptures, Wood Wick candles and jewelry. At the back of the store you can find a small selection of gourmet foods. Every day High Street Company makes up a tray of one of their popular food items for tasting.
