The Midwest Huntfest filled the Expo Hall in Century II with anything and everything to do with fishing and hunting for three whole days (Friday, Aug. 10 – Sunday, Aug. 12).
Over 50 hunting and fishing vendors offered hunters various items, such as hunting supplies, artwork, jewelry, clothing, home décor, camouflage and stuffed animals.
Instead of being just an average hunting and fishing show, the creators of the Midwest Huntfest added an extra element of excitement by providing celebrity guest appearances and live music from notable country artists.
Through Tom McMillan’s (star of Tom’s Wild Life on GACTV) connections in the country music world, the Midwest Huntfest was able to put on stage acts such as Neal McCoy, Chuck Wicks and Ricky Fugitt during this year’s show.
Several other industry celebrities were present at the Midwest Huntfest, including Nick Mundt and Travis "T-Bone" Turner from Bone Collectors, Buddy Groom, Jeff Danker, Daniel McVay and Brandon Adams of Buck Ventures , and Bo and Twolla Newsom from OkieWild Television Series.
“There isn’t an outdoors show of any sorts in the Wichita area, and I think folks that are interested in the outdoors will appreciate what we are doing by getting these big names and great vendors together in one building - it’s going to be a good time.” says Tom McMillan, star of Tom’s Wild Life on GACTV.
Other sites to see within the Midwest Huntfest included KDWP’s display of 100+ poached deer, Eagle Valley Raptor Center’s display of live native birds of prey, Bass Tubs of Oklahoma’s 40 foot aquarium with fishing demonstrations and angling techniques and a 3D archery competition coordinated by Diamond Archery.
