School may have just started, but it's never too early to think about scholarships and money for college. SER Corporation is a local nonprofit that helps Hispanic farm workers find year-round employment. They have teamed up with Amigos de SER, a group of local business owners and professionals, to offer scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 for local hispanic students.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the student has to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be applying for full-time admission to an accredited university or junior college. The application process is pretty easy- the student fills out the application, writes a brief narrative, and turns them both in with a letter of recommendation. Winners of the scholarship are invited to a banquet dinner to celebrate with SER Corporation and Amigos de SER.
The deadline for scholarship applications is February 28. To pick up an application, stop by SER Corporation at 1020 N. Main Suite D. For more information, call (877)664-5372, or visit their website at http://www.sercorp.com/SERScholarshipProgram/default.aspx.
